Helping Those in Need

Chiropractors always have your “back,” and at Duncan Chiropractic, we think helping the
community and those in need is important. We want to help everyone, even if it doesn’t involve an
adjustment on your achy bones! The following are a few tips on how you can help give back to those
who are in need without having to spend money that you yourself may not have to give.
 Fundraising without raising a finger is one of the best ways to help when you are on a tight
budget this year but really want to help those in need. You can support your local nonprofits
and schools through “passive giving” programs. These programs have fundraisers that partner
with organizations and donate part of their earnings to your fundraiser! You can check with
your favorite charitable organizations to see if they have fundraising partnerships with local
businesses as well. Local businesses may donate a portion of their sales to nonprofits in the
area. Also, check online marketplaces, such as Amazon Smile, who donates a portion of their
purchase price on qualifying products to the charitable organizations of your choice, at no cost
to you.
 Another great way to give to your community is through volunteer work. Children’s hospitals
have many volunteer opportunities that range from cuddling a newborn to adding supplies to
the hospitals game rooms. Many newborns are left alone during the day while family is at work
and mom is healing, and we know how busy the nursing staff already is, so you can go in and
just cuddle the baby, feed them, and help sooth them until someone comes back! You can also
volunteer at your local retirement center. Many senior citizens don’t have family to keep them
company. Going in and helping spend time with others can mean more to them than you can
ever imagine!
 Organizing a food drive is another way to give back to the less fortunate who may be homeless
or just not have the funds to feed their families. You can go around the neighborhood and
collect canned and boxed goods to donate to the food drive. Pass out fliers listing suggested
donation items. You can even have folks drop food off on your porch and deliver the items
yourself if it makes it easier for them. A warm meal for an entire family means more than any
money can buy.
 Thanking Mother Earth is a great way to give back to the world we live in and tend to take for
granted daily! Adopt or step up an eco-friendly habit for a week, month, or for as long as you’d
like! Toting your own reusables, such as travel mugs and cloth shopping bags, goes a long way
as well. Go out and clean a park or beach so that everyone can enjoy the earth the way that it
was meant to be.
 Our army men and woman work very hard and often go unrecognized. Make some goodie
boxes filled with canned food, letters of appreciation, warm blanket or even toiletries. Sending
letters overseas this holiday from your neighborhood just letting them know how grateful we all
are for their services means so much to them, especially when they are missing their loved ones.

Helping others doesn’t mean that you have to spend a lot of money; you don’t have to spend any if you
aren’t able to. Just try a few of these things listed above to give back to your community and see how
great you feel in the end. If everyone just did one or two things on this list all over the world, imagine
what a wonderful place this world could be. Here at Duncan Chiropractic, we are all about giving and
love, so go share your love with others and give back what you can to the community!!
